Go to irs.gov/account. You may need the decedent\'s ID.me credentials to log in.

Download all tax transcripts

Get Return Transcripts, Account Transcripts, and Wage & Income Transcripts for every available year.

Check for balances owed

Review the account for any outstanding tax balances, payment plans, or penalties.

File Form 4506-T if online access fails

If you cannot access the account online, file Form 4506-T with a death certificate and executor documentation to request transcripts by mail.
