Log into TaxJar and go to the filing calendar. Note all upcoming sales tax filing deadlines by state. Missing these results in penalties and interest from each state.

Review AutoFile status

If TaxJar AutoFile is enabled, it is automatically filing and paying sales tax in enrolled states. Verify it is working correctly and has the right payment method connected.

Document all nexus states

Go to State Settings to see every state where the business has sales tax obligations (nexus). Each state has different rules, rates, and filing frequencies.

Consult a sales tax professional

Sales tax compliance is complex and varies by state. Engage a CPA or sales tax specialist to handle final filings and any necessary de-registration with states.

Export all filing history

Download complete filing history, transaction data, and nexus reports from TaxJar. These records document the business's tax compliance history.
