Back up messages if possible
Signal messages are end-to-end encrypted and stored only on the device. If you have access to the phone, create a local backup from Signal Settings → Chats → Chat backups.

Unregister the phone number
If the phone number will be recycled by the carrier, unregister it from Signal to prevent the new owner from receiving messages intended for the deceased.

Signal does not have a formal account deletion process for deceased users. The account will simply become inactive. No data is stored on Signal\'s servers.
