Step-by-Step Guide
Identify the AFORE administrator
Determine which AFORE (Administradora de Fondos para el Retiro) manages the deceased's retirement savings. Check pay stubs, AFORE statements, or use the CONSAR AFORE locator at e-sar.com.mx.
Contact the AFORE to initiate claim
Visit the AFORE office with the death certificate, beneficiary IDs, NSS number, and proof of beneficiary designation. The AFORE will guide beneficiaries through the withdrawal process.
Claim all sub-accounts
The AFORE account includes multiple sub-accounts: retiro (retirement), cesantía en edad avanzada y vejez (senior unemployment), and vivienda (housing). Claim all applicable sub-accounts.
Resolve disputes with CONDUSEF
If the AFORE denies the claim or there are beneficiary disputes, file a complaint with CONDUSEF (Comisión Nacional para la Protección y Defensa de los Usuarios de Servicios Financieros).
