Step-by-Step Guide
Export database with mysqldump
Use the PlanetScale CLI or mysqldump with the connection string to export all database branches. Export the main production branch first.
Delete non-essential branches
Delete development and staging branches to reduce usage charges. Keep only the production branch until transfer is complete.
Add organization members
Settings → Members → Invite. Add a trusted person as Admin to manage databases.
Delete databases or close account
Delete databases to stop all charges. Contact PlanetScale support for estate closure.

- PlanetScale account email
- List all databases and branches
- Connection string locations
- Monthly bill amount
- Note any production databases serving live traffic
